i just started reading that stanley cohen book.
kindergarten-age children, when asked to draw from observation, draw each object from the still life set before them on their paper as though the objects are being mapped and laid out in their brain and placed on a single plane. by second grade, they become interested in representing objects in space, and their relation to each other. this is a confusing change in perception, i think.
